ইংরেজি সাহিত্যে Caroline Age- বলতে রাজা Charles I (1625-1649) রাজত্বকালকে বুঝায়। এই সময়ের লেখার মধ্যে ছিল আভিজাত্য এবং পরিশুদ্ধতা। এই যুগের নাট্যকাররাই ছিল সর্বশেষ যারা Elezabethan tradition অনুযায়ী নাটক লিখেছে। এই সময়ের উল্লেখযোগ্য লেখক হচ্ছে- Ben Jonson, Sir John Suckling, Henry Vaughan, Robert Herrick প্রমুখ।
Cavalier poets were a group of Mid-17th century English lyric poets who were mostly courtiers of Charles I. They are- Robert Herrick, Thomas Carew, John Suckling and Richard Lovelace. They were closely associated with Charles I and his exiled son.
They are regarded as secular poets. Cavalier poetry is different from traditional poetry in its subject matter.
